"CAMPAIGNERS have mounted a sit-in at Friern Barnet Library today, after councillors approved its closure last night.
"At 1pm today 15 members of the public including two children decided to stage a protest over fears that Barnet Council planned to close the library earlier than the 4pm announced at the cabinet meeting last night.
"The library, in Friern Barnet Road, was original set to close its doors on March 31, but was given a four-day stay of execution after councillors on the business overview and scrutiny committee asked the cabinet to consider keeping Friern Barnet open until the new library at artsdepot opened, or a date was set for the transition."
