Evening Standard: "The capital needs more social mobility"

(The toffs, and the riff-raff)

"Today's damning Commons report on social mobility has special significance for London. MPs from an all-party group conclude that Britain suffers limited social mobility between classes compared with other developed nations: half of British children’s prospects in life are predictable entirely from their parents’ own social position.

"This is a worrying situation for Britain: it represents a squandering of talent and risks entrenching inequality. But London, which prides itself on the opportunities it offers to all, must address the problem with particular urgency."
