"Incoming!" Bowes Ward Labour Lobs One Back

BOWES LABOUR SAYS:

NO TO PINKHAM WAY
NO TO MORE WASTE ANYWHERE IN ENFIELD
YES TO A BARNET ALTERNATIVE

BUT WHY DID THE ENFIELD TORIES LET THEIR BARNET CRONIES TAKE STAPLES CORNER OFF THE TABLE IN 2009?

AND WHY DID THE ENFIELD TORIES LET NLWA BUY PINKHAM WAY, ALSO IN 2009?

“...we have always been very clear that nowhere in or near Enfield should host further waste facilities: not Pinkham Way; but also not [Eastern] Enfield, which in recent decades has suffered enough for all of us... Tories lack the moral compass to accord Edmonton the same consideration as they give to affluent Barnet.

The truth of this saga is that the Tories let Pinkham Way happen, and joined us in opposing it, only once they were turfed out of office. They betray our borough, and misrepresent Labour's position, to hide their malice.”

HELP US IN OUR ONGOING EFFORT TO FIND A JUST ALTERNATIVE.

COME TO THE WEDNESDAY 6 JULY ENFIELD COUNCIL MEETING:
7 PM AT THE CIVIC CENTRE

(From Bowes Ward Labour Party web site)

"The Tories are being incredibly dishonest and treacherous to our borough, pretending that they are on the side of the angels, when they are the ones who let things deteriorate so far in 2009:
  • when Barnet was left off the hook; and
  • when the Pinkham site was actually purchased.
"They have created a situation where - unless we can find alternatives - either Pinkham Way goes through, or the deprived communities of Edmonton get dumped on again. Both solutions are morally and ecologically wrong.

"Your councillors have always refused this false choice. Come on Wednesday, and stop the Tories from skewing the argument under a smokescreen of phoniness.

No to Pinkham Way, no to Edmonton, yes to Barnet.

It's time to get affluent Tory supporters to assume their ecological responsibilities. The rest is a smokescreen."
